    Hi great review of the ski I agree with everything you said. I did buy the 110 180cm with shift bindings fitted at -3 cm from true centre but felt the front of the ski is really short and that i could go over the handlebars. I'm 5'9 80kg not that interested in skiing switch just wanted a floaty ski for trees and powder. My previous ski was black crow atris which i found hard work it was 188cm so went shorter this time. My question is would it be worth mounting the bindings a little further back to give the ski a longer nose and stop the feeling of going over the handlebars and if so how much further back would make a difference? Could you elaborate on what you mean by suspension?

    • @powder7skis
      @powder7skis Месяц назад

      Of course!! It's a bit of a weird term to apply to skis, but we're essentially referring to the "shock absorbtion" the ski offers. Like suspension on a car or mountain bike that absorb bumps in the trail or road to smooth out the ride, a ski can feel more smooth (or "damp") than others. There's no mechanical suspension, but the materials a manufacturer uses can help a lot in letting the ski ride smoothly over harsh or variable snow. A ski can feel precise and locked in on edge, but sometimes feel harsh (older skis loaded with carbon feel like this to me). Likewise, a ski can feel damp and loaded with suspension, but loose and less precise (like a Dynastar M Free, a really rockered ski, but very predictable pushing through variable snow). Skiers who priortize a really "planted feel" like skis with lots of "suspension". I hope that helps, just let me know if you have questions about that!! -Alex

    The 2014-16 ish BMX- FX lineup was Kastle's best era of their freeride designs - so if this a trip back to that design idealogy I am in especially a 107 at just over 2000g! My wife is still rocking the 2015 FX95 non Hp. Bought her the womens FX96 she was not a fan, too skitish, less manuverable - sold em. Last year bought a Sheeva 10 2 days in she punted them, back on the FX95 and happy as can be. That FX95 was way ahead of its time. Will have to demo and see if Paragon delivers.

    How does Volkl Blaze 106 vs K2 Mindbender 106C? Both has deep rocker lines.

    • @powder7skis
      @powder7skis 2 месяца назад

      Honestly great comparisson, the Blaze 106 leans more into that lightweight-but-stiff category (more like a Head Kore) where the K2 MB 106C has a significantly softer flex in the tips and tails (maybe more like a QST 106). Both of their shapes involve deep rocker lines that lean directional, so they're manuverable in tight places but still have plenty of ski up front to lean into. I think the MB 106 feels more playful, where the Blaze has a bit more backbone for firmer snow or rougher snow conditions. -Alex

      The white and gold is the Laser MX -- which is a ladies specific carving ski around 68mm underfoot and a tight turn radius. I believe the other ski is the Laser CX, with the Laser CX Orea (the bronze ski) on the right of it. -Alex

    Taking a Dodge Sprinter 2006 on an adventure van tour sounds like a thrilling experience! With its spacious interior, versatility, and reliable diesel engine options, the Sprinter can be a great choice for exploring various destinations comfortably. Here’s how you might plan and enjoy an adventure van tour with a Dodge Sprinter 2006: 1. **Planning Your Route:** Map out your route based on your interests and desired destinations. Consider scenic drives, national parks, camping spots, and other attractions along the way. 2. **Interior Setup:** Customize the interior of your Sprinter to suit your needs. Install a comfortable bed or sleeping platform, storage cabinets or shelves for gear and supplies, a kitchenette with a sink and portable stove, and a small dining or work area. 3. **Gear and Equipment:** Pack essential gear such as camping equipment (tent, sleeping bags, cooking utensils), outdoor gear (hiking boots, backpacks, water bottles), navigation tools (maps, GPS), and safety equipment (first aid kit, emergency supplies). 4. **Adventure Activities:** Plan activities based on your interests and the locations you visit. This could include hiking, biking, kayaking, fishing, wildlife viewing, or simply relaxing and enjoying nature. 5. **Stay Connected:** While the Sprinter allows you to disconnect and enjoy nature, it’s also helpful to stay connected for safety and convenience. Consider a portable Wi-Fi hotspot or mobile data plan for communication and navigation purposes. 6. **Explore Off-the-Beaten-Path:** Take advantage of the Sprinter’s off-road capabilities (if equipped) to explore off-the-beaten-path destinations and remote camping spots. 7. **Document Your Journey:** Capture your adventure van tour with photos, videos, and journal entries. Share your experiences with friends and family or create a travel blog/vlog to inspire others. 8. **Respect Nature and Regulations:** Follow Leave No Trace principles, respect local regulations and wildlife, and leave the places you visit as you found them to preserve the environment for future adventurers. 9. **Maintenance and Safety:** Regularly check and maintain your Sprinter, including oil changes, tire inspections, and overall vehicle safety. Carry emergency supplies and know how to handle basic repairs or roadside assistance. 10. **Enjoy the Journey:** Lastly, remember to enjoy the journey! Adventure van tours are about experiencing new places, meeting people, and creating lasting memories. Embrace the freedom and flexibility that the Dodge Sprinter 2006 provides for your adventure.

    • @powder7skis
      @powder7skis 3 месяца назад

      You got it, the Laser SC Orea returns but a new Orea comes out next year with the Montero AX Orea. The SC Orea is the more bronze toned one, and the new Montero AX Orea is the darker toned one. Just like the SC Orea, there's no construction difference between the two, just high-end finishes on the topsheet and trims for an elevated look. -Alex

    Hi, I got my hands on a pair of Enforcer 99 of 179cm. I am 173 cm tall, advanced but not expert, 67 kg. I won't get to test them until next winter. Do you think it's the right length for me? I think 173 would have been better, I like to go fast on the slopes so I believe the 179 will good and stable but I am wondering how they will perform in off-piste, in the trees. How tall are you, what length did you test? Do you think they will feel good for me? Thanks!

    • @powder7skis
      @powder7skis 16 дней назад

      Howdy! That's a tough pickle! Matt's about your height (maybe a few cm shorter) and skis the 179cm. But that's a length he normally likes to go with, and I will say Matt tends to prefer things on the longer side, and skis with a very fall line, directional, fast style. I think you're spot on-the 179cm will give you tons of stability for when you're hauling on groomers, but you'll notice the length in bumps and trees. I think the 173 will still give you the stability you're looking for, with more flexibility and versatility when you get off trail. -Alex

    Interested in the Decliv X 102 changes. How much splay in the tail? Just wishing it was a loose and not locked in. Also , is theARV JJ gone now?

    • @powder7skis
      @powder7skis 3 месяца назад

      The shape is still decidedly directional. To me, the shape looks and feels pretty similar to the old one, but the metal construction is different than the old Declivity 102 Ti. It has more condensed metal, with less metal in the tips and tails and more concentrated underfoot. So while the tail remains similar in shape and is going to be more locked in than say the ARV 106, the softer flex should allow it to be a little easier to release and less punishing than the old one. Armada's goal with the 115 X, 108 X and 102 X was to give them a shape that will hold an edge on variable snow and allow you to take a more aggressive stance, while being able to slash and pop. Overall, if you wanted the old one to be less locked in, this shape might still feel locked in, but in theory, it should be able to release more easily. If you like to ski with a centered stance or a more playful style, this mold still may feel too directional for you. As for the OG JJ, that's true, it's out of the lineup now. We still have the JJ 116 UL, but the heavy version becomes the new ARV 112. -Alex

    • @powder7skis
      @powder7skis 3 месяца назад

      The V Werks actually features an integrated binding system, so each pair of skis comes with a set of Marker bindings. The V Werks does lean on the more demanding side, so it may take a few days to get used to if you haven't skied in a few years. The Volkl Deacon 80 (or new Peregrine 80 comingout next year) offers a slightly more accessible ride, with still top notch frontside performance. -Alex

    • @powder7skis
      @powder7skis 3 месяца назад

      Both great skis! The Prodigy 3 is more symmetrical in the tip and tail, and I fnd to be a little stiffer throughout the ski. The QST has loads of rocker, but almost a more directional shape with more rocker in the tip than the tail. To me, the Prodigy is happy being skied with a more centered stance, but the QST really comes alive with some consistent pressure on the shovels. Overall, the Prodigy has more freestyle flair and has more pop and energy. Probably better edge hold on firm snow too. But the QST is super nimble in bumps and trees, and feels very damp when cruising through heavier chop. -Alex

    I wonder why they don't sell their addikt line in north America. The reviews from Europe are great.

    These skis look like a good hard charging freeride ski. How would this compare against declivity 102 and enforcer 104 free of 2024 in terms of speed, stability and maneuverability in chopped up and crudy post storm ski conditions. Thanks for your inputs!

    When you decrease the swing weight is it easier for the ski to get caught up on something?

    I'd say they are very soft, but certainly not floppy. If you size up one length, and mount at around -6 from center, this ski is super versatile as a directional all-mountain "charger". I was blowing the doors off the boys on their Enforcers, and Stormriders yesterday on my 184 Reckoners. New version even comes in a 191. Can't wait.

    I was just about to buy the 2024 MX88, but took one last look and realized the 2025 are out now. Wondering if I should take the 2025 now, I kind of liked the white and orange, but don’t know if there are any other updates besides color

    Have they solved the problem of the Stormriders blowing out at the heal?

    • @powder7skis
      @powder7skis 4 месяца назад

      Do you mean a topsheet separation? Stockli's covered all issues we've seen with warranty replacements (looking at our warranty claims, there's only a handful, much less than some other brands). They've also passed along recommendations to use a slightly wider brake to make sure you don't have any snags with those brakes retracting.

      @@powder7skis Last season I demoed a pair of 95 Stormriders.. Before I even got to the hill I noticed that they were blown out at the heal.. The sidewall was cracked and pushed out.. The ski was broke.. When I returned them to the ski shop there was another pair of 95s that were blown out at the same spot.. They also had a pair of Stormrider 88s that were blown out at the same place.. I also talked to someone who had Stormrider 102s that were blown out at the same place.. I know that the whole Stormrider series has new construction.. I was just wondering if you heard anything..

    No more ash stringers in the core? Looks like the 106s are going back to the previous version before the smear tips and ash (2019-2021). Hopefully they still charge like the current ones. Regarding the hookiness, I too experienced a bit of this when skiing on flats in several inches of warm slush (trails back down to base at Whistler in mid-March). Anyone know if this is a result of the smear tech tips, or do I need to detune the contact points a bit? The edges do extend a bit beyond the contact points so I imagine it should have some impact. Loved the skis besides the hooking.

      Current 106 are like ferraris on my feet. They do it all, and yeah, they charge. I don't get hookiness but I tele. I've tried a bunch of skis in this class and kept coming back to the ARV. I think a key feature is that they're not light although they feel light on feet. I hope the new model doesn't go on a diet. ARV is a killer CO daily driver - it's almost NEVER the wrong ski for conditions.
